BlackBerry PlayBook, the recently launched tablet PC by RIM (Research In Motion), is a beautiful, sleek and elegant piece of hardware with high definition graphics. With 16GB or 32GB of storage capacity, it could bundle tonnes of movies, games, documents, pictures and apps. So, what happens to all this data when the device crashes or you want to sell it to another buyer?
It’s vital to securely wipe your BlackBerry PlayBook device before you sell it to another person – so that no one gets access to your personal multimedia, documents and files. Wiping may also be required if you face an issue with the PlayBook’s operating system installation.
Below are the systematic steps to securely wipe your BlackBerry PlayBook device.
Open Settings by tapping on the gear icon at the top-right corner of the screen.
Scroll down to the Security option on the left. A list of options on shown on the right side, select Security wipe by tapping it.
It shows a warning message and asks the user to enter the word blackberry to confirm the security wipe. Executing this will wipe everything from your PlayBook device. Hence, take your time and think again before confirming.
Enter the word blackberry in the textbox. Press Wipe data. The screen will go blank for few minutes and the device will take few more minutes to wipe all the data available on your PlayBook. On restart, it will again go through the preliminary setup process.
