1. The first thing you need to know is that one centimeter is equal to 0.3937.
2. Once you have an idea of the figure you are converting, write it down on a sheet of paper and multiply the number by 0.3937 to get your answer. If you are using a calculator, then input the figure and use the symbol for multiply to multiply it by 0.3937 and then press the equal button to get the answer just the same.
3. So for example if you were required to convert 20 centimeters to inches, you would multiply 20 by 0.3937 and the result would be 7.847 inches which could be rounded off to 8 or 7.85.
