Basically, most of the US is currently running on 3g networks for their cell phones, computers, and modems. 3g stands for the 3rd generation of wireless standards, which relates to the overall speed of the network. A 3g network has the capacity to reach a speed of 3 Megabits per second.

There is nothing slow about 3g and there is nothing wrong with keeping as your primary connection. 4g, on the other hand, is the 4th generation of wireless standards, and it runs on a satellite Internet system with the potential to reach speeds of 100 Megabits per second, 33 times as fast as 3g. Although it is supposed to be this fast per se, not all of the companies that offer it will actually reach these bandwidth top speeds, so chances are that you will not be able to see a significant difference. Different cell phone plans will have different options and packages too.

In terms of products, whether they are 3g or 4g does make a significant difference because it determines if they will be compatible with certain networks. Most companies, like Clear wireless, offer both 3g and 4g networks to consumers. A 3g smartphone will basically work everywhere because that is the national standard, but it will be incompatible with 4g networks. If you have 3g smartphone you will eventually be forced to purchase a 4g smartphone so it will be compatible with the satellite Internet 4g networks. If you buy a 4g smartphone, then you can use both 3g and 4g networks because it is compatible with both of them. However, it is important to remember that not all cities have 4g networks, so that means that you may be operating
on a 3g network anyway depending on where you live. As of now, 4g smartphones and computers are more expensive and the service prices from cell phone companies and Internet providers are also higher, so that is why many people are reluctant to give up their 3g devices. For the most part, most consumers can live without 4g networks unless they can afford it. 3g is still the national standard, although many companies are implementing 4g networks all over the country. Either network is fine; it just depends on the needs of the individual.

You can even select which types of registry elements you want included in the scan. Fix selected issues will fix or resolve all the found registry problems. On clicking Fix selected issues, CCleaner will ask you to backup your registry file. I recommend you to take a backup just in case something goes wrong, so you will have a chance to restore. Don’t worry, until today registry cleaner has not given me any problems. It’s quite safe to use.

TOOLS – Takes good care of your computer.

Tools have the following sub-options; Uninstall, Startup, System Restore and Drive Wiper. Uninstall is similar to the native Add/Remove Programs of Windows. Startup is the most handy option here since it actually allows you to disable selected programs to execute automatically when Windows starts. Just select any listed program, click Disable. That’s it, now the program won’t execute when Windows starts. System Restore function is similar to Windows Restore option. It lists available restore points and you can select any to restore your computer back to that point. It disables the most recent restore point for system safety. Drive Wiper acts similarly to the format option in Windows, but Drive Wiper gives an additional option to wipe only the free space available on your hard drive.

OPTIONS

Options are software specific preferences with some additional features like excluding certain cookie file from being cleaned.

1: Escape Key

3: Switch Applications
Switching between applications is very important while performing multiple tasks at a time. On pressing the Menu key within any application, you have the option Switch Application to jump to another active application. Instead, there are 2 other simpler ways to do it. Press the Menu key continuously and it will popup a list of active applications. Or hold down the Alt + Escape key to popup a list of active applications.

4: Switch Profile
Switching between Normal and Silent profiles can be done by simply pressing the # key continuously on Home screen.

5: Lock Screen
You can lock your BlackBerry phone screen by simply pressing the * key continuously.

6: Home Screen Shortcuts
In order to  use Home screen shortcuts for BlackBerry, you will first need to disable Dial from Home screen settings. Else, any keyboard key you press on the Home screen will result in searching a suitable name from your contact list.

Disable Dial from Home screen Settings:
Go to Options. Select Phone Options > General Options. Scroll down to Dial From Home Screen option and change it to No. Save and exit. You will now be able to use all the Home screen shortcuts for BlackBerry.

7. Soft Device Reset
Soft device reset is a simply restarting your BlackBerry mobile phone if it faces any problem or error. On the other hand, hard reset can be performed by entirely removing the phone battery.

Press Alt + Shift + Del key combination to perform a soft device reset on your BlackBerry mobile phone. Alt and Del keys are quite distinct on a BlackBerry keyboard, whereas Shift key is located near the Spacebar with a upward facing arrow and “aA” inscribed on it.

8. Help Me!
Press Alt + Shift + H key combination to open the Help Me! screen. This screen shows Vendor ID, Platform, App Version, PIN, IMEI, MAC, Uptime, Signal Strength, Battery Level, File Free, and File Total. This screen is particularly very helpful while calling the Technical Support Team of Research In Motion.

9. Event Log
Event Log is the log of all the application and system events occuring in your BlackBerry mobile phone. Hold down Alt key continuously and press the following sequence L > G > L > G to open Event Log. It’s recommended that you clear this log at regular intervals to same memory. Press Menu key and select Clear Log.

10. Standby Mode
It is recommended to keep your BlackBerry mobile phone on Standby mode when not in use. It save good amount of battery. Hold the Mute key, for few seconds, on top of your device to enter Standby mode. To come out of the Standby mode, press the Mute key again.

11. Messaging
There are shortcuts for BlackBerry when you are in the Message application. These are within a single opened message.
L - You can reply to all
R - You can reply to a message
F - You can forward a message
I - You can file any highlighted message

C – You can compose a message
ALT + U – You can mark a message as Opened or Unopened

- Press $ sign to alternate between phone and speaker during a call.

Ubuntu Directory Structure Explained

/bin

The Bin directory contains the executable files for running all the Ubuntu commands like ls, grep, sudo, etc. These files are accessible at system level, i.e. across all users.

/boot

The Boot directory holds vital files to help boot the system into action, i.e. these files are used to boot Ubuntu. It includes kernel, ramdisk image and bootloader configuration files. It’s highly recommended to not enter this directory unless critical.

/dev

The Dev directory is used to keep track of all the peripheral devices connected to your computer, including internal components like graphics card, sound card, memory sticks, etc. It does not take much space on the hard drive.

/etc

The Etc directory includes all the configuration files which are used to store most of the settings you perform on Ubuntu.

/home

The Home directory is user specific like Documents on Windows. Every user will have their own special sub-directory within Home directory where they can store their personal documents and other files.

/lib

All the Ubuntu libraries are stored in the Lib directory. Libraries are basically shared resources used by numerous applications.

/media

The directory Media, even though not a core part of Ubuntu, is used as a mounting point when connecting to external storage devices like digital cameras or USB pen drives.

/mnt

The Mnt directory too is used as mounting point for other file systems which may exists in your computer. Like FAT32 partition of Windows can be mounted here.

/opt

The Opt directory holds all the additional or optional software package installations. E.g: If you wish you install Google Desktop, it will reside in Opt directory.

/proc

The Proc directory maintains the current state of the entire system. It does not occupy any space and is virtual, residing in the system memory. Only the “root” user (administrative privileges) has access to this directory.

/sbin

The Sbin directory holds commands for making system-wide modifications. Again, only the “root” user can access this directory.

/sys

The Sys directory stores files related to the PnP components of Ubuntu.

/tmp

Tmp is the one and only temporary directory of Ubuntu where all the temporary data is stored.

/usr

The Usr directory generally contains pre-installed programs, wallpapers, themes and few libraries. It’s equivalent to the Program Files folder in Windows.

/var

The Var directory contains all the variable components of the system like webroot directories, databases, etc.
